The ABA Bowhunting Proficiency Course (BPC) is designed to ensure bowhunters have the knowledge and practical skills to hunt safely, ethically, and responsibly. Achieving your BPC also allows you to claim game recognition for yourself and your club and provides Public Liability Insurance while conducting ethical hunting activities.

Before You Start

To be eligible to complete the BPC, you must:

• Be a current ABA member for at least 3 months.

• Participants must be 13 years of age or older.

• Have a current ABA membership (the online test is not available if your membership has expired).

The Accreditation Process

​

1. Log in to the ABA Member Portal.

2. Select the green ‘Bowhunter Proficiency Accreditation Test’ Icon.  (The Bowhunter Proficiency Accreditation Test icon will not show on a member’s dashboard if they have not been a member for three months, or if their membership has expired.)

3. Read the National BPC Online Design Document.

4. Select either BPC Test 1 or Test 2. Doesn’t matter which one you choose.

5. Answer the questions, and submit once done.

6. Your test will be assessed by the ABA National Director of Bowhunting Education.

7. You will receive an email advising whether you have passed or need to redo the test.

8. Once you have received confirmation that you have passed, complete the Practical Assessment Expression of Interest  form below and remember to attach a copy of your confirmation email.

9. FDFA will organise practical assessment sessions on a demand basis, generally in groups of 3–4 participants. and will contact you with the details of the next available session.

10. Please allow approximately 2 hours for the practical assessment.

11. Upon successfully completing the practical assessment, FDFA will submit the required documentation to the ABA for final processing.
